It’s called Talk Stream Live, and it’s a service that takes various talk radio shows and podcasts and streams them over a phone number you call. It includes all sorts of content. The number is a long distance call, but there is no fee or subscription to use the service. https://www.talkstreamlive.com/ When you first click on the site, you’ll see mostly conservative content highlighted, and I believe that’s because that’s what their users are looking for. But when you open it up and see all of whats available, it’s actually very diverse. Good for non internet users - ie, elderly parents who may not have data/internet/cell phones but have unlimited minutes/long distance. Some people don’t like to pay for lots of data and may burn thru way too much by streaming. Some may have slow data connections due to geography etc, even though calls work fine. Many Mennonites, Orthodox Jews, and various other religious groups intentionally buy cell phones without data access because they don’t want everything that may come along with said access, but still have cell phones to communicate. Perhaps someone here knows such a person they could share this with? I realize, it’s a niche product, but if it exists, there are almost certainly a lot of people who find it a useful service. And I very well may missed some of the top reasons myself. Of course, most of this content is available over AM/FM radio, and of course online, but as I said, there are many reasons that doesn’t work for all people. Please Note- Many of the numbers listed for shows have changed. Before you pass on a number to someone, you should check and see if it has remained the same. When you click on a show, you will see a “Listen Line phone number provided. Whatever someone is into, it really stinks to not have access to things you enjoy or find useful. If others know of similar niche tech products, please share with me and the others because I’m into that sort of thing. In fact, I have more l’ll be sharing on here as time goes by. I’m not really sure. When I call international I typically use FaceTime. But other free options are WhatsApp, Skype, Viber etc. Check with whoever you are calling and see if they already use one of those. But a lot of cell carriers offer free international calling these day, so you might check with them and see if yours does. Hope that helps.

Todor Heisman Posts: 9,276 | Post: #5 Another good product is from Sunbeam Wireless, a small town tech company from Missouri. On the surface, it’s just a flip phone. But it’s also very private and secure as they have removed all Google and Microsoft software from certain models. No easy task and still being able to use maps and weather etc, because big tech has their hands in everything possible to track people. You can pick a model with only the features you want, and nothing you don’t. Safe for kids. Can still get turn by turn directions without access to full internet. Can leave out the camera. Lots of options for the millions of people who like the useful parts of modern tech with being forced to accept it all, like being tracked constantly. Interesting company that is providing tech jobs in a rural area, doing their work in the US when they could outsource a lot of it. They are still a niche product for now, but opening up their products to a wider and wider audience. Who it’s for- https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/sunbeam-f1 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zbhIiCtAk34 A video review As always, this information may be useful for someone out there. If it’s not you, pass on the information to someone you know who needs it.

Todor Heisman Posts: 9,276 | Post: #6 A website called Michael Saves http://www.michaelsaves.com covers a lot of the streaming services and cable replacements out there for anyone who is looking to save money that way. He makes it pretty easy to compare services, see what content/channels are on each one etc. He also seems to cover more family friendly services than most reviewers, like Frndly TV. Also covers internet and phone plans, money tips, deals etc. Take a glance if you like. Maybe you’ll find an option you didn’t know about. Also, since so many people are locked into an internet provider and may not have a choice, be on the lookout for 5G home internet from TMobile and Verizon. Can be a good option if another service just isn’t working at all for you. The site covers a number of those options as well. (This post was last modified: 04-04-2024 12:06 AM by Todor.)
