Emergency Services | CalvertHealth (2024)

The emergency department treats patients of all ages and provides 24/7/365 care for serious life or limb threatening injuries and illnesses.

Our highly skilled care team includes emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice providers such as physician assistants and certified registered nurse practitioners. The care team is rounded out with registered nurses, patient care technicians, case managers and emergency psychiatric social workers.

We have recently implemented a “split flow” care model that allows patients to be triaged in a private ED room. This model:

  • ✔ Increases patient safety as a result of shorter door-to-provider time
  • ✔ Expedites patient flow and frees up beds needed for higher acuity patients
  • ✔ Relieves frustration due to bottlenecking when patient volumes are high
  • ✔ Decreases the number of patients who leave without being seen
  • ✔ Increases patient satisfaction due to shorter wait times
  • ✔ Improves the patient experience
