Cecily Tynan is a popular American Chief Meteorologist for 6abc Action News. She has been with 6abc (WPVI-TV) since 1995. By 2020, Cecily worked as the 5, 6, and 11 pm weathercaster and chief meteorologist at WPVI. She was also the host of the Saturday evening public affairs program Primetime Weekend. She joined WPVI (6abc) from KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she served as a weather and news anchor for “Good Morning Las Vegas.”
Before that, Cecily worked at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia as the weekend weather anchor and a general assignment reporter. During her time at WPVI, she began as a weekend weathercaster and general reporter. Cecily afterward became the weekday morning weathercaster. When Dave Roberts left in 2003, she was named the weathercaster for weeknights at 5:30 and 11 p.m.
Following Lisa Thomas-Laury going on medical leave, Cecily took over as co-host of many locally produced specials, such as the 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 4th of July Parade, Philly on Wheels, as well as the Philadelphia Flower Show. In 2009, following Dave Roberts’ retirement, she succeeded him on the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. weathercasts while maintaining her position as the 11 pm meteorologist.
